Come and join Bristol’s largest hockey club! This is our fourth year as an Academy, coached by experienced and enthusiastic coaches. Firebrands Hockey Club is a great believer in young players being the future, not always as elite players, but believe young players are the future in hockey for all. We always make the training challenging but fun. We take experienced players and also young players wanting to try something new (taster sessions before commitment).
Membership for the 2019/20 season – please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Academy membership fees for the 2019/20 season remain at £100.00. Additional games or tournaments will not incur any additional fees, with the exception of indoor training and matches which require external facilities.
We now run our membership program online using ClubBuzz. The Manager / Administrator for your age group will send you a link to either join or renew your membership. Please note that the Academy membership form contains important details such as emergency contacts, medical information and photography consent. We would be grateful if you could provide us with as much detail as possible to ensure our records are completely up to date.
When you get the email, please complete the form on behalf of your child, entering their details online. Please note all correspondence will be sent to the email address you supply, so for juniors we suggest you use the parent or guardian’s email address. Once you have registered, within a couple of weeks you will receive a request for payment of your subscription. To help is reduce the administrative burden on our volunteers, we are taking online card payments only this year.
The club can only run with the help of volunteers. We are always looking for enthusiastic hockey lovers to help out in all areas from coaching to umpiring and on the admin side. Please let us know if you would like to get involved – the club can assist with coaching/umpire courses. We are in greatest need of assistance with the admin of the girls U12/U14 sides as we have no one to cover these groups. We have invested in a new system so admin is now greatly reduced; please contact Sarah Hughes if you can provide some help. Thank you.
Goalkeepers train with their own age groups and, in addition, we will offer individual coaching.
Firebrands Hockey Club will endeavour to run training sessions in all weathers however, in circumstances of extreme conditions such as snow, frozen pitches or heavy fog, we may have to cancel. Announcements will be made on our Facebook page and via Twitter so please check either of these if you have any doubts.
